Creating an ASCII Art Campaign for PayPal Braintree
I lead, fully hands-on, a great team of artist to deliver these series of educational films for PayPal Braintree, transforming their complex offerings into a visually distinctive campaign using ASCII Art—American Standard Code for Information Interchange. ASCII art, typically a text-based art form embedded in code as a surprise message for developers, was reimagined in this project to align with Braintree's ethos: "Our mission is to enable beautiful experiences in commerce so people and ideas can flourish."
The goal was to create a campaign that would provide insights and explanations about Braintree's services, from payment acceptance to security, integrations, and global scaling. The educational films were intended to be hosted on Braintree’s website and YouTube channel, reaching both existing and potential customers by demystifying the company’s complex offerings.
We pushed the boundaries of Braintree's mission by transforming ASCII art into a dynamic and engaging storytelling tool. By leveraging this art form—familiar to the developer community—we created a series of animations that not only explained Braintree’s services but also engaged the audience in a playful and unexpected way. This approach made the content both memorable and accessible, bridging the gap between technical information and visual appeal.
